NexStar HX4 (NST-640SU3-BK) It is near impossible to find fault with Vantec's latest update to is popular external hard drive enclosure: the NexStar HX4. It offers an expandable storage solution (up to four hard drives) that performs as well as it looks. From the stylish brushed aluminum exterior shell and unique design elements of the HX4 to the USB 3.0 and eSATA interfaces, the H4X is at the top of the external enclosure seating chart. The HX4 performs extremely well and the only thing holding it back was the limitations of my hard drive. The best thing about the NexStar HX4 is that it is a plug in and store multiple-bay storage solution requiring only a quick format to get going.
NexStar MX (NST-400MX-S3R) Just like the earlier model, I am pleased with what Vantec has bought to market with the MX400 dual drive enclosure. The option to set the drives into different configurations is one of the biggest pluses of the unit. Each will have to decide what is best for them but we would highly suggest Raid 1 for its drive redundancy. It's nice to know if one of the drives fail you still have your data on the second.The speed of the enclosure is not too bad but if you want it to be faster you may want to select Raid 0 for your drive configuration and that way you will receive a better data transfer across the board.
NexStar MX (NST-400MX-S3R) The MX comes in at reasonable price for what it can do. The MX retails for $82.99 USD at online retailers. For what this external enclosure can do and for the ability to expand your storage solution in the future, the price is very good. Especially when you consider the performance and aesthetic build quality of the Vantec product compared with those of other companies that often retail for a similar price. What makes the MX so unique is the multi bay nature of the enclosure. This is a very thin area of the market with only a few niche products to pick from. I believe Vantec has a leg up on all the competition, especially with the addition of a full USB 3.0 line-up, and really could come to dominate this market if they continue to release products like the NexStar MX.
NexStar SuperSpeed Dual Bay Hard Drive Dock (NST-D400SU3) The D400SU3 looks great, has a very good solid built to it. This is simple what we have come to expect from Vantec. And using the USB 3.0 and the eSATA as the transfer protocols makes the drive fast and quick.

It is extremely easy to install and doesn't take away from the good looks that may of our cases have. NexStar HX4 (NST-640SU3-BK) Well-made external hard drives are hard to find these days. The people at VANTEC have produced such a product. The NexStar HX4 is everything an external hard drive enclosure should be and then some.
